About Peter Tirschwell
Peter Tirschwell is Vice President in the Maritime, Trade & Supply Chain division of S&P Global;, a global data, analytics and business intelligence organization serving sectors including maritime, energy, automotive, petrochemical and financial. In his role Peter leads The Journal of Commerce, the historic New York City maritime newspaper founded in 1827, today a team of specialized business journalists focused on the end-to-end international shipping supply chain including shipping, ports, airfreight, trucking, rail and home delivery, addressed to the needs of shippers. A career business journalist, Peter has served as a maritime reporter, West Coast Bureau Chief, Editor in Chief and Publisher of The Journal of Commerce, over the course of his 30-year career with the JOC beginning as a maritime beat reporter in the early 1990s. He is the founder and chairman of the annual JOC TPM conference in Long Beach, Calif., the world’s largest container shipping conference, now 23 years old. He writes a regular JOC column, speaks regularly at industry events and has been quoted in or written for mainstream business media including the The Wall Street Journal, CNBC and The Washington Post, CBS News, NPR, The Financial Times, The New York Times and others. He has degrees from the University of Maine and Fordham University.
